Hi Lee,
I’ve been perusing your site for awhile now, mostly browsing through your skills sections. I’ve got to say it’s great. Thanks for posting such useful info.
I’ve got a quick question regarding a little problem I’m trying to overcome lately. I was reading your article on leaning the bike (Leaning: street motos vs. […]
In the pursuit of the perfect bike, I demo’ed a new Cannondale Prophet 4 this past weekend. I currently own a Cannondale Jekyll that has seen better days and plan to upgrade to a new bike this summer. I have narrowed the search down to either the Prophet 5 or the Rush 5. I have researched tons of bikes and due to cost, component spec and many other factors I know I want a Cannondale in this price range. My riding style falls somewhere between the Scalpel-Cannondale’s cross country race bike- and the Judge-Cannondale’s downhiller. The Prophet and the Rush fill in the gap between these extremes.

Despite living less then 3 minutes from the Conyers Horse Park trails yesterday was the first time I ever road them and it was a great ride other then the three killer hills and the granite field on the other side of the road near Cherokee Run golf course. the uphill battles and the granite were well worth it because the fast single track down hills were awesome. Thanks goes out to Joe for getting me out after spending all morning photographing the Xterra race I was certainly ready to sit on the couch and drink beer but He got me outta the house and on the trail.

At what point does one decide to replace a bike or repair it? My old bike was bought for a lot less than the money I’ve put into it over it’s lifetime. I’ve been replacing parts that need to be replaced, and purposely upgrading the components as I go along.
Since my suspension fork is getting worn, I’m wondering at this point if I should change my way of thinking just get another new bike to join up with my last purchase. I would probably get a lower end bike that I would keep as a winter and mud beater.
Anyone’s thought/philosophy on this issue would be helpful.
