Singletrack Issue 35

Fingers crossed, the new issue of Singletrack will be hitting subscribers’ doormats, bike shops’ counters and newsagents’ shelves early next week (yes, that is a tad later than it should be, sorry!) Here’s what it should look like and what should be in it…

Stealing bikes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TNTq3nhuh0

This is pretty messed up and proves how little people care about what other people do regardless of if it’s right or wrong. Just listen to the comments from the police officers when they do finally turn up.

Nutrition What to eat during 24 hour race

I am curious about how other teams handle food during the race. What suggestions does the community have for race day? Please post and let me and the other know your suggestions.

This year we are having a pot of chicken noodle soup in the camp site. It is warn, has plenty of sodium, carbohydrates and enough protein to slow the digestion down so that it stays with you longer. Also, it is easily digested comfort food.

Another Helo from Florida

Hi, I’m Neil or nickname Smog. I moved here a year and a half ago from England. I used to ride as often as I could back home regardless of the weather and went by the mountin bike code over there of “Just get out and ride”. I aim to do the same over here though the heat is a bit more of a problem than rain is back home. Love to ride and owned about 3 bikes before I moved. Had to sell all of them to pay to come over here and the immigration process isn’t cheap either. Used to own a Whyte PRST-1, Marin B17 full sus and a GT Arrowhead.

Trans Scotland Stage Four

The racing gets interesting as Dalbeattie unloads with both barrels a frantic circuit of techy singletrack, roots and rocks, for the riders to charge headlong around, duking it out against the clock for the Overall Classification.

Shimano Tech Service at T-Mobile Giant Mountain Mayhem

2007 marks the 10th anniversary of Mountain Mayhem, and with it the 10th year of Shimano’s neutral technical assistance. Working throughout the night, Shimano’s team of expert mechanics will always be on hand to assist and support those taking part. There’s no charge for service, all you need to bring with you is your bike and a smile.

Interesting new sweat disperser by Sweat GUTR

Ever sweat like a pig in the Alabama sun with a wool sweater on and no popsicle to cool you off? Yes? Then, you need the Sweat GUTR. This heady little headband makes the use of a small gutter (GUTR) that allows sweat to drip off your forhead an onto the ground, where it belongs! Kind of reminds me of gutters on my house when it rains, except for those damn leaves that block the running rain water - stupid leaves!??
