The fact that the trick we base all other tricks from was named the “Bunny hop” irks me. I’m on a mission from GOD, with the help of all you, to officially change the name of our sacred, favorite trick. Hence the DOWN Cycles latest survey. If you have not yet voted for change, or no change, you Homo sapiens, then get to it! Please help me change the name for good and I will then teach you how to do the trick. No change, no teach.

I remember seeing a skateboarder hop up onto a curb with out using his hands and thought what I just witnessed could not be possible! I remember thinking it looked like the skater simply levitated his board up a curb David Blaine style. Back then the trick was called a J-hop. Pretty cool name, if I say so myself. Then, all of a sudden the name “Ollie” hit the scene and it stuck. I really dislike the word “Ollie” almost as bad as “Bunny hop”. The term “Ollie” to describe a vertical leap on a skateboard actually has a history. For this, I deem it worthy and accept the horrible terminology. I will miss the term J-hop. RIP.

The “Bunny Hop” on the other hand is up for grabs. We can change it! It may be impossible to find out who was the first person to do the little pink bunny rabbit hop on a bike, but I’m sure we can track the tricks history and find out what jackass named the forsaken trick. When we find him, I think we should stomp out his family with a pair of Syncros Mental pedals attached to our shoes! Let us do the trick justice and kill the rabbit! KILL THE RABBIT!
